In these scenarios magic becomes incredibly important, and these amulets delayed the deaths of countless lives.<br />

Not everyone was happy with such utilitarian approaches to survival, however. As the days drew on and resources grew scarce, empathy began to wane in the population of Emberwood. Amulets of defence were handed out to those determined to have the most need, but the criteria for that became a hot subject of contention.<br />

It would be nice to imagine a world where everyone pulled together to defend against the undead, but human nature sadly shattered that dream. Still, while there would always be those who would attempt to steal the amulets from the needy, there were plenty more who would stand against them.<br />
