Brynmoor had a string of so-called 'dark wizards'. Most were little more than bandits with a penchant for magic. The guards were sufficient for dealing with the majority of troublemakers, but a small group did cause a real upset. They were members of the [[Dragonwilds:Children of Shadows]], a [[Dragonwilds:Zamorak]]ian cult that began spreading through the population. The cult fed on distrust, paranoia and greed — some very human traits. Among their number were three apprentices of the Wizards' Guild, who were frustrated by having not received the promotions they felt they deserved.<br />

In their quest for power, the Children of Shadows stumbled upon ancient vaults; repositories of the [[Dragonwilds:dragonkin (race)|dragonkin]]'s long-forgotten secrets. Here, they discovered the remnants of a forbidden text, a relic of immense power.
