He says “Niamh, I love you, but you can’t pin one of those things to the wall and call it art. At least wash it first, it stinks.”<br /> <br /> Well! I mean, you absolutely can, though it takes quite a while and you need a particularly sturdy nail, but it CAN be done!<br /> <br /> Anyway, where was I? So, I followed the bugs to their hive and, wow, just… just wow! They may be dumb, brainless crawly things, but they can make some wonderful structures. There’s an artistry to them that’s all the more impressive considering they have the aesthetic sensibilities of… well… insects.<br /> <br /> Perhaps its their nature? They are so colourful after all. Their shells are so sparkly, and their wings reflect myriad colours in the noonday sun. Creatures as beautiful as these must be born with artist souls, surely?<br /> <br /> I found some old notes in that horrible pyramid thing. Some madman talking about crystals and helixes and other such nonsense, but what I did find was that these bugs aren&#039;t from around here. They were stolen from another bug hive, really far away. On another continent, perhaps the one my people fled from thousands of years ago. I wonder if the bugs there are as fascinating as these, or did the journey change them somehow? Would two hives look identical to one another? Are their queens connected somehow? Can they talk to each other across continental differences? Would they get on with one another? Would they go to war? <br /> <br /> So many questions!<br /> <br /> I need better notes. <br /> <br /> I think I’ll try and get a bit closer. I wonder what the hives look like on the inside?
