The odd thing about life is it's surprisingly easy to maintain. For all the work of alchemists and scheming sorcerers, continued existence is child's play really. All it takes is hate.

Hate is a fuel that can burn forever. Pure rage is a force that can drive anyone forward. Grief is a power source that can last until the end of time. You just need to know how to use them.

Someone will tell me that that's not what Ulv would want, but I knew my friend and, if he could speak, he'd tell me to make sure they hurt.

So, I do.

Those same people tell me that grief fades, but that's a lie. It's been so long now, so many years, yet that pain and that hate still burn inside me more ferociously than the sun, and I wake each day smiling because I know they suffer in return.
