'''Rune Essence''' can be gathered by mining [[Dragonwilds:Rune Essence (Rock)|rune essence stones]] surrounding the [[Dragonwilds:Rune Essence Geyser|geysers]] around [[Dragonwilds:Ashenfall]]. Some spawn with rocks on the ground that you can easily gather from. The floating rocks require being hit (most easily with an arrow or an attack from a staff), and they will then fall to the ground to be mined. Alternatively, players can cast [[Dragonwilds:Rocksplosion]] whilst aiming at the floating rocks and can collect rune essence without affecting the [[Dragonwilds:pickaxe]]'s durability.

Collecting rune essence in their inventory for the first time unlocks the [[Dragonwilds:Rune Altar]].
