Crimson fungi may be placed on [[Minecraft:grass block]]s, [[Minecraft:dirt]], [[Minecraft:coarse dirt]], [[Minecraft:podzol]], [[Minecraft:farmland]], [[Minecraft:rooted dirt]], [[Minecraft:moss block]]s, [[Minecraft:nylium]], [[Minecraft:mycelium]], [[Minecraft:soul soil]], [[Minecraft:mud]] and [[Minecraft:muddy mangrove roots]]. Attempting to place it on any other block fails. Crimson fungi requires a solid block underneath it, and pops off and drops itself if it is no longer supported.

Crimson fungi can also be placed in [[Minecraft:flower pot]]s.

When [[Minecraft:bone meal]] is {{ctrl|used}} on a crimson fungus that is planted on [[Minecraft:crimson nylium]], it has a 40% chance to grow into its tall equivalent (similar to [[Minecraft:sapling]]s and [[Minecraft:mushroom]]s). Crimson fungi grow into [[Minecraft:huge crimson fungi]]. The [[Minecraft:log|stem]], [[Minecraft:shroomlight]], or [[Minecraft:wart block]]s may replace certain blocks including [[Minecraft:slab]]s and [[Minecraft:torch]]es.

Crimson fungus can be used to breed [[Minecraft:hoglin]]s and keep them from despawning, but feeding hoglins does not stop them from attacking the player.
