Looting can be obtained from [[Minecraft:enchanting tables]], drops from mobs that have spawned in a [[Minecraft:raid]],{{only|bedrock}} books obtained by [[Minecraft:fishing]], [[Minecraft:monster room]] chests, librarian [[Minecraft:villager]]s, and non-village [[Minecraft:structure]] loot.&lt;br /&gt;

== Usage ==&lt;br /&gt;
Looting increases the maximum number of items for most [[Minecraft:Drops#Common drops|common drops]] by 1 per level. Looting also increases the chance of [[Minecraft:rare drops]] and [[Minecraft:Drops#Equipped items|equipment drops]] by 1 percentage point per level.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Looting affects any kill that happens while holding the enchanted item in the &amp;#039;&amp;#039;main&amp;#039;&amp;#039; hand, not just any kill by the enchanted item.&amp;lt;ref&amp;gt;{{bug|MC-3304}}&amp;lt;/ref&amp;gt; For example, a player can fire a projectile then switch to the enchanted item before the projectile reaches the target to get the Looting effect, hold the enchanted item while killing a mob with a ghast fireball, or fire a projectile from the off-hand{{only|java}} while holding the enchanted item in the main hand. This allows Looting to work on [[Minecraft:arrow]]s or thrown [[Minecraft:trident]]s, as long as the player is holding the Looting item when the arrow or trident lands.&lt;br /&gt;

Looting applies to mobs killed with a [[Minecraft:sweep attack]].{{only|java}}&lt;br /&gt;

Using [[Minecraft:commands]] to get higher levels than III works as expected, adding higher numbers with a weight of 1. A mob always drops its naturally-spawned equipment at Looting level 92.&lt;br /&gt;

Looting has no effect on certain sources:&lt;br /&gt;
* Kills by tamed [[Minecraft:wolves]] are not affected by this enchantment, even if the target is struck first.&lt;br /&gt;
* Mobs with no drops, such as [[Minecraft:bat]]s, [[Minecraft:bee]]s, or [[Minecraft:endermite]]s, are not affected by this enchantment.&lt;br /&gt;
