Eating one restores {{hunger|2}} [[Minecraft:hunger]] and 1.2 hunger [[Minecraft:Hunger#Mechanics|saturation]] and has a 60% chance of applying 5 seconds of [[Minecraft:Poison]] I, draining {{hp|4|poisoned=1}} points of [[Minecraft:health]].
Interestingly, a poisonous potato restores twice as much hunger and saturation as a normal potato. (A normal potato gives {{hunger|1}} hunger and 0.6 saturation points.)
