			Periodoic geysers can serve as the basis for very space- and material-efficient long-period clocks for applications that don't require exact timing. Periods of 16-32 through to 49-65 seconds are achievable, with signal pulses of approximately 1-2 through 4-5 seconds. Period and pulse length can be controlled somewhat by the height of the water column above the potent sulphur block, and will be constant, but the exact duration will depend randomly on the position of the potent sulphur block in the world.

			To detect a geyser's eruptions, place an armor stand on top of the geyser, and a tripwire either at the armor stand's rest position (resulting in an inverse clock pulse), or at the apex of the armor stand's trajectory (resulting in a positive clock pulse). For a stable positive clock pulse, it may be necessary to cap the armor stand's trajectory to the geyser's proper eruption height (or lower, to reduce the clock's vertical footprint), by placing a solid block there. When using a water column of 2 or more blocks in height, and an inverted output is desired, use waterlogged scaffolding to prop up the armor stand in its rest position.

			Note that the pulse duration is only approximate (due to the delay introduced by the armor stand and tripwire), and the timing of the inverse output (Q̅) is not the ''exact'' inverse of the positive output (Q).

			For longer periods, the signal can be fed into a pulse counter or similar circuitry to multiply the clock period. Alternatively, designs are conceivable where the signal of the base clock merely drives a mechanism that alternatingly extends and retracts the capping block, allowing the armor stand to rise higher every second eruption, to trigger another tripwire further up.
