Saves limits were a feature that existed in old versions of Java Edition, where there was a limit to the number of worlds which could be saved or loaded.

In Minecraft:Minecraft Classic, only 5 levels (worlds) could be saved online (except for 0.30 in which worlds can also be saved offline) until sometime in 2011 or 2012 when the Classic online saving servers were taken offline.

In Minecraft Indev, only 5 levels (worlds) could be saved online expect for later Indev versions in which worlds can be saved offline as well. The time when the online Indev saving stopped working is unknown.

From Infdev 20100327 to Beta 1.2_02, only 5 worlds could be shown on the world selection screen until Beta 1.3, when the screen was revamped to allow for an unlimited number of worlds.
