He didn't do any language work prior to learning Xi'an, however when he was younger he was reading ''Perry Rhodan'' in which there is an intergalactic language called Intercosmo which is just a transliteration, where one needs to learn the letters rather than an entire new language, and for which he created a font for himself.<ref name=":0" /> <br />

As he was learning the [[StarCitizen:Xi'an language]] he found the initial Xi'an font to be difficult to use, so he bought a font design software to make it better. He sent his font to [[StarCitizen:Britton Watkins]] thinking it might make it easier for him to create more content for the community, and after Bitton showed the font to [[StarCitizen:Cloud Imperium Games Ltd.|Cloud Imperium Games]], they contacted Chris and bought the font from him.
