Contested Zones are a game mechanic in Star Citizen introduced in [[Update:Star Citizen Alpha 4.0.0|Alpha 4.0]]<ref name="A40DP">{{Cite RSI|url=https://robertsspaceindustries.com/comm-link/transmission/20341-Alpha-40-Destination-Pyro|text=Star Citizen Alpha 4.0: Destination Pyro|accessdate=2024-12-23}}</ref>. They are free-fire PvPvE areas where players can find unique loot and rewards<ref name="A40DP" /><ref name="JP1206>{{Cite Jump Point|title=Destination Pyro|volume=12|month=6|startpage=29|endpage=38|accessdate=2024-12-23}}</ref>.<br />

The main contested zones are located on three [[StarCitizen:Space station|space stations]] in the [[StarCitizen:Pyro system]], and are the sources of Boards 1 through 7:<br />

Two other contested zones act as a source for red keycards, which are required to bypass the red locked doors in the main contested zones:<br />
