== History ==
The roots of Hitbox trace back to a fan-run [[StarCitizen:Spectrum]] site called [[StarCitizen:Collision Detection]], founded in [[StarCitizen:2929]] by [[StarCitizen:Velma Bhatti]], [[StarCitizen:Amahle Mhlongo]], and [[StarCitizen:Augustin Fontenot]]. Initially a casual review blog updated irregularly, its popularity grew as the trio developed a more consistent publishing rhythm. Increased viewership led them to secure advertising deals, eventually turning the hobby into full-time work by [[StarCitizen:2932]].<ref name="GalactapediaHitbox"/>

In [[StarCitizen:2934]], publishing house C&K approached the founders with an offer to turn Collision Detection into a physical magazine. The deal provided financial support and allowed Bhatti and Fontenot to fulfill their dream of purchasing a [[StarCitizen:Ships|ship]] and traveling, while Mhlongo oversaw magazine development. In December 2935, the first issue of Hitbox Magazine was released, with the site rebranded under the same name.<ref name="GalactapediaHitbox"/>

A distribution strategy devised by Bhatti, personally delivering bundled copies to retailers while traveling, helped the magazine gain traction. == Controversy ==
In [[StarCitizen:2941]], Hitbox published an exclusive article on a mysterious game titled ''[[StarCitizen:Meet Me in Elysium]],'' believed to be created by anonymous [[StarCitizen:Tevarin]] developers. The story, compiled by Features Editor [[StarCitizen:Gavin Joy]], was revealed a month later to be a [[StarCitizen:Triggerfish]] prank orchestrated by [[StarCitizen:Borea]]-based radio hosts Burke and Banyon. The magazine issued a formal apology in the April 2941 issue, and Joy resigned following the incident.<ref name="GalactapediaHitbox"/>
