The Regen crisis is an unfolding event in the StarCitizen:Persistent Universe. StarCitizen:Regeneration technology is failing to revive some individuals from death, resulting in widespread concern amongst the StarCitizen:UEE's population.

{{Quote|Everybody's freaking out about their imprints failing, but I couldn't care less. I miss that rush you get when you're taking a risk.
Timeline
March 2955
An explosion rocks downtown StarCitizen:New Austin. In the aftermath, medical staff report a shocking number of imprinted individuals failed to regenerate.

April 2955
In a press conference, BiotiCorp confirms that imprints are no longer viable for a majority of the population. Civilians concerned about their imprints flood hospitals with inquiries. Imperator Addison pushes for increased scientific research in the public and private sector.

June 2955
A former employee of StarCitizen:Associated Sciences & Development claims the company is conducting illegal experiments.

July 2955
Imperator Addison launches the StarCitizen:Second Life Resource Drive.

August 2955
StarCitizen:Arken Mallor, of StarCitizen:Hockrow Agency, is assigned as lead investigator into ASD's research practices in the Stanton system. Citizens are contracted to investigate the corporation's abandoned Onyx facilities where unsanctioned experiments took place, and to find out more about Dr. StarCitizen:Logan Jorrit's actions before he moved his operations to Pyro.

ASD involvement
Intel from private citizens suggests Associated Sciences & Development is using its Lazarus Phoenix and Tithonus research labs on StarCitizen:Pyro I to investigate irradiated StarCitizen:Valakkar pearls under the leadership of Dr. StarCitizen:Logan Jorrit. The process (codenamed the "Second Life Initiative") involves luring an apex Valakkar with the death cries of Valakkar larvae harvested from an egg, then killing the beast to retrieve its pearls—a procedure which is not only highly dangerous, but also considered animal abuse.

Recovered audio recordings
Researcher's log, Storm Study laboratory, Farro Data Center
Test, test. Okay, it's recording. Preliminary results look promising. Ibrahim spheres enhanced with irradiated pearl dust are showing better entanglement outcomes than what we're seeing with the normal ones. Dr. Jorrit's already given clinical the go-ahead to start in-vivo testing, but I'm not confident we're at that stage yet. I want to replicate this a dozen or so times before we move on to development. We don't have enough data yet to say this is statistically significant. I wanted to get this on record in case Dr. Jorrit keeps pressuring us to rush things. Still, I'm hopeful that maybe we can solve the regen crisis—not bad for a weapons company.

StarCitizen:Amanda Preston's log, Specimen Incubation Chamber, Lazarus research lab
PRESTON: Alright, hello, hello? Here we go. Problem: We're currently utilizing the death cries of valakkar larvae to summon and harvest irradiated apex. Obviously there are moral issues with this approach. Hypothesis: by using some recordings I made, I believe we could synthesize the same sound without the need to cause unnecessary pain. I just finished some initial testing and was finding encouraging solutions.

JORRIT: Excuse me?

PRESTON: Dr. Jorrit, hello.

JORRIT: Who are you?

PRESTON: Amanda Preston, sir.

JORRIT: What are you doing?

PRESTON: Oh, I was hoping to put together an official presentation, but I think I found a way for us to summon the apex Valakkar more effectively.

JORRIT: We have a way.

PRESTON: Well, sir, we wouldn't have to destroy the eggs to do these --

JORRIT: They're worms.

PRESTON: But...

JORRIT: They're worms. And you have real work to do.

PRESTON: Yes... sir.
