It was the first active duty Hammerhead loss. The ship was ambushed while on reconnaissance by a Vanduul [[StarCitizen:RIF group]]. Blackbox data retrieved from the wreckage indicated that the crew fought valiantly and were able to eliminate several enemy fighter-bombers before suffering a crippling torpedo hit to the engine room that flooded the ship with radiation and left it unable to fight on.
