This template is used to add a message above a protected page.<br />

== Usage ==<br />
This template automatically determines the page's protection level and namespace for its information.<br />
<br />
The parameter {{p|1}} can be added for an additional note as to why it is protected. If unset, it defaults to "to prevent vandalism", or "because it is widely transcluded" on templates.<br />

The parameter {{p|editcopy}} can be added if a protected page has an editcopy page for suggesting changes. The linked editcopy page defaults to <code><nowiki>{{FULLPAGENAME}}</nowiki>/editcopy</code>, but can be changd by passing in a different pagename as the value of {{p|editcopy}}.<br />

If an unprotected page (that is not a template documentation page) uses this template, it is added to [[:Category:Unprotected pages using Template:Protected]].<br />
