Template:Infobox biome The cold ocean is a cold variant of the Minecraft:ocean biome with slightly less underwater vegetation. It generates near cold biomes and has a deep variant.
Generation
Cold oceans replace oceans in the cold temperature zones, often near Minecraft:taigas and Minecraft:old growth taigas. As a shallow ocean, they can border coastal biomes but never Minecraft:mushroom fields. Cold oceans border Minecraft:deep cold oceans as well as Minecraft:oceans and Minecraft:frozen oceans.
Description
The cold ocean uses a dark indigo water color at the surface. Like regular oceans, its floor is made up mainly of Minecraft:gravel. The vegetation in cold oceans has less Minecraft:seagrass compared to other ocean variants.
The same mobs as in regular oceans spawn here, namely Minecraft:salmon, Minecraft:cod, and Minecraft:dolphins.Template:Only Minecraft:Ocean ruins use their cold variant and Minecraft:shipwrecks are common. Occasional islands in cold oceans are covered by Minecraft:grass blocks with default vegetation.
With Minecraft:Vibrant Visuals, cold oceans use default environmental settings with a coolish color grading, making the biome appear colder blue. They use cold sunlight, which is slightly brighter at dusk and dawn.
Mobs
The following mobs naturally spawn here:
