Minecraft's user environment can be configured through the Settings menus. A few additional options can be changed only by editing the Minecraft:options.txt file manually.
The settings menus can be accessed from both the Minecraft:main menu and the game menu. The "Storage" and "Language" settings tabs are not available from the pause menu, and some options are only changeable in the main menu or the pause menu. For the settings tabs related to game settings in the pause menu, see Template:Slink. The "Global Resources" tab is not accessible from the Editor.
The Subscriptions, Storage, all pack settings, and Creator settings tabs still use their old UI and are shown in separate screens. The settings in the game menu on Minecraft:Realms and in the Editor use the old UI for all tabs.
Less captions for sounds you make, like "Burp" and "Footsteps"

The render distance controls how many chunks of the world are visible at once. The fewer chunks that are included, the faster each frame can be rendered, resulting in higher frames per second (FPS). Available in 2-10 sections on the slider, ranging from 5-96 chunks maximum (depending on the device). The most distant terrain is faded by Minecraft:fog, to avoid a sharp edge to the visible world. This can be changed to any value in Minecraft:options.txt. Values below 8 chunks will result in chunks at higher distances not initially loading, but the chunks will not be unloaded until the distance is higher than 8 chunks. Values above 24 chunks will result in the game actually rendering this distance up to 128 chunks away from the player.

Shows active and inactive in-game subscriptions, which include Minecraft:Realms server, including Realms Plus and Realms Core, and Minecraft:Marketplace Pass. Purchase and information screens can be opened from here. Active subscriptions may have a button to end the subscription, if purchased from the same device.
Allows the player to manage global Minecraft:resource packs, which are enabled locally for all worlds. Minecraft Texture Pack is enabled by default and can't be disabled. For each pack, the description can be opened, the Marketplace purchase page, a pack info screen with technical details and options, and the pack settings menu.
Packs under any tab can be managed by clicking on them, which shows a button to enable/disable it. Under the "Active" tab, the order of packs can be organized. Resource packs are applied from bottom to top, any higher pack overrides conflicting features from lower packs, with the vanilla pack at the bottom.
Resource packs can only be changed while in the main menu, in a world they can still be viewed.
Below is a section of stored data. In collapsed lists, all worlds, world templates, resource and behavior packs, and cached datapacks can be managed and deleted, more quickly using the Multiselect button.
This tab allows to select a Minecraft:language for all in-game text. Languages are listed in alphabetical order, each showing the region of the dialect used. Not available in-game.
Attempt to attach script debugger at level load, requires that either inbound port or connect address is set and that inbound or outbound connections are enabled. When turned on, this can be set to connect or listen. When set to connect, the game will attempt to connect to debugger in listening mode on the specified port. When set to listen, the game will listen to inbound connect attempts from debugger using connect mode on the specified port.
Amount of time to wait at world load for debugger to attach. Can be set between 0-10 seconds with steps of 1. Available only when Attach Debugger on Load is enabled.
Sets the watchdog threshold for slow scripts over multiple ticks. Can be set between 5-50 milliseconds. Available only when Slow Script Warnings is enabled.
Saves and shuts down the world when the combined script memory usage exceeds the given threshold. Can be set to Super Low, Low, Mid, High, and Super High. Only available when Enable Memory Tier Override is enabled.
