Old growth spruce taigas generate at very high Minecraft:humidity, moderately low temperature and negative weirdness. They border normal Minecraft:taigas, Minecraft:dark forests, Minecraft:groves, Minecraft:swamps, and Minecraft:windswept forests. Old growth spruce taigas can border Minecraft:snowy taigas, but only do at the tops of a plateau. At higher elevations they transition to Minecraft:groves and Minecraft:jagged peaks. Due to their very high humidity values, old growth taigas are almost guaranteed to have Minecraft:lush caves generate beneath them; however, if the old growth spruce taiga generated far inland, Minecraft:dripstone caves may generate under the old growth taiga instead. They are often separated from Minecraft:old growth pine taigas by Minecraft:rivers. In coastal areas they border Minecraft:cold oceans.

Additionally, rocks made of Minecraft:mossy cobblestone frequently generate on the ground and Minecraft:dead bushes generate alongside the Minecraft:sweet berry bushes, Minecraft:ferns, Minecraft:large ferns, and Minecraft:short grass on the ground. Minecraft:Mushrooms are more common here than most Minecraft:Overworld biomes. Minecraft:Trail ruins may generate here. Chestnut Minecraft:wolves, Minecraft:foxes and Minecraft:rabbits may spawn here. As the climate here is cold, Minecraft:rainfall changes to Minecraft:snowfall above layer Y=160±8.

With Minecraft:Vibrant Visuals, old growth spruce taigas use a coolish humid volumetric fog setting, which slightly fades the distance in an orange tint. Old growth spruce taigas have coolish color grading which tints the environment with a colder blue color, and cold sunlight which appears slightly brighter at dusk and dawn.

There are overall more trees in old growth spruce taigas compared to normal taigas, leading to increased foliage density. This makes wood more abundant, though as a large portion of it grows as part of tall 2×2 spruce trees, it may be more difficult to obtain. Old growth spruce taigas are slightly more difficult for survival than regular taigas for this reason, though aren't so bad once acclimated and strategies are used to clear the tall trees; they may offer more unique views compared to regular taigas as well.

Template:Infobox biome The old growth spruce taiga or redwood taiga mutated is a forested Minecraft:biome covered with tall 2×2 Minecraft:spruce trees that grow leaves all around the trunk. The ground is made of Minecraft:podzol and coarse dirt and covered by mossy cobblestone rocks.

Generation

Old growth spruce taigas generate at moderately low temperature, very high Minecraft:humidity and negative weirdness. They commonly border regular Minecraft:taigas and dark forests. They are often separated by rivers from old growth pine taigas, a variant with mega pine trees that only have some leaves at the top.

Old growth spruce taigas can generate in any type of terrain, near Minecraft:swamps and Minecraft:windswept forests, or near Minecraft:mountains with Minecraft:grove slopes and nearby Minecraft:pale gardens. Due to their very high humidity values, old growth spruce taigas are almost guaranteed to have Minecraft:lush caves generate beneath them.

Description

As the name implies, old growth spruce taigas include trees that have attained a great age, and therefore great height. These spruces grow all over the landscape, while most of them are tall with 2×2 trunks, regular pine and spruce trees can also generate.

Much of the grass blocks are replaced by large swaths of Minecraft:podzol and Minecraft:coarse dirt. Additionally, rocks made of Minecraft:mossy cobblestone frequently generate on the ground and dead bushes generate alongside the sweet berry bushes, ferns, and large ferns. Mushrooms are more common here than in most Overworld biomes.

Minecraft:Trail ruins may generate here, but Minecraft:villages and Minecraft:pillager outposts cannot. Chestnut Minecraft:wolves, Minecraft:foxes and Minecraft:rabbitsTemplate:Only may spawn here. The climate is cold and allows Minecraft:snowfall above layer Y=160±8, which is notably lower than in the old growth pine taiga.

Minecraft:Abandoned camps sometimes generate in old growth spruce taigas.Template:Upcoming
