Template:Stub Waxing is a gameplay mechanic that prevents Minecraft:copper blocks and Minecraft:signs from being changed, locking them in their current state through the use of Minecraft:honeycomb.

Mechanics

Copper blocks that are prone to Minecraft:oxidation as well as all types of Minecraft:signs and Minecraft:hanging signs can be waxed by Template:Ctrl Minecraft:honeycomb on them. Waxing a block emits an orange Minecraft:particle.

Waxed blocks are visually identical to their non-waxed counterparts.

Copper

Template:See also Copper can be waxed at any stage of oxidation by Template:Ctrl Minecraft:honeycomb on it or by combining it in a crafting grid with honeycomb. Waxed copper will not further oxidize over time and will not deoxidize when struck by Minecraft:lightning.

Waxed Minecraft:copper can have the wax removed from it by scraping it off, which is done by Template:Ctrl any tier of Minecraft:axe on the block, though this does not return the honeycomb used. Wax will always be removed before any stages of oxidation are and before a Minecraft:copper golem statue reverts back to a copper golem. When wax is scraped off of a block, it displays a white particle.

Wax cannot be removed from a block while the player is holding a Minecraft:shield, as Minecraft:blocking will be prioritized unless the player is Minecraft:sneaking.<ref>Template:Bug</ref>

The property of being waxed does not affect the appearance or functionality of any blocks or entities, with the exception of preventing them from oxidizing further.

If a waxed copper block is used in a Minecraft:recipe, the product will be waxed as well. Waxed blocks and non-waxed blocks cannot be used simultaneously in recipes that require more than one copper block.

In order to remove wax from copper chests, doors, trapdoors, and copper golem statues, the player must be Minecraft:sneaking.

If a waxed Minecraft:copper chest is placed next to an unwaxed copper chest in such a way that it forms a large chest, both chests will become unwaxed.<ref>Template:Bug</ref>

Minecraft:Copper golems preserve the state of the copper block used to created them, including whether or not it was waxed. Waxed copper golems will not turn into copper golem statues even if they are on their last oxidation stage.

Signs

Unlike copper blocks, waxed Minecraft:signs and Minecraft:hanging signs cannot be unwaxed by Template:Ctrl an Minecraft:axe on them and are not considered seperate Minecraft:blocks.

Waxed signs cannot have the text on either side altered in any way, including by editing or Template:Ctrl Minecraft:dyes, Minecraft:ink sacs, or Minecraft:glow ink sacs. The only way for a waxed sign to no longer be waxed is if it is Minecraft:broken and re-placed.
