Beginnings=

The 600i is based on the previous 600 line, manufactured in the StarCitizen:29th century. The line originally began as a function first mid-sized transport. One heavily modified original 600 ship was used by Captain StarCitizen:Iggy Decarlo in the StarCitizen:Tohil Regatta race on StarCitizen:Tohil III, and served as a rescue ship during the environmental catastrophe at StarCitizen:Amidon Island.<ref>Jump Point, vol. 7, no. 5</ref> |-|

Redesign=

Only as Origin refined their version of luxury after moving to Terra, they went back to the drawing board to bring the 600 in line with Origin's iconic aesthetic. Engineers used the same chassis as before but made major changes to the interior's shape language, used better materials, and added expensive diamond laminate panels to create an observation deck. It was put into full-scale production in 2947, and they added an "i" to the ships name to symbolize the upgrade.<ref>Template:Cite RSI</ref> </tabber>

Development

2018-12-21	With the release of StarCitizen:Star Citizen Alpha 3.4.0, the ship became Flight Ready.<ref>Template:Cite RSI</ref>

Rework

It was stated that the high level concept pass was completed, including addressing where space was wasted. They had completed floor plans and a concept pass.  The rework, itself, was stated as waiting on a slot in the schedule.  A couple of touring variant images were shown including the split staircase and the spa location.

• On November 17, 2022, the 600i rework was detailed.<ref>Inside Star Citizen:A Cut Above - Fall 2022</ref>

In a section of Inside Star Citizen entitled "New Origin", specific details of the 600i concept rework were released.

Reasons cited for the rework:

• Inefficient space prioritization
• Outdated design language
• Poor interior flow
• Missing features developed since initial release  

The aims of the rework were stated as follows:

• Relocation of modular sections to the rear of the ship
• Streamlined layout and flow
  • Front section: keeps the bridge and captain's quarters
  • Center section: houses crew habitation on the top deck and the engineering and components on the lower deck
  • Rear section: module for variant-specific gameplay

• Specific Touring Variant upgrades were stated to be:
  • New spa area with pool, sauna, and bar
  • Luxurious guest cabins with their own escape pods.
• External adjustments were stated to be small, but impacting features like airlocks, escape pods, and the repositioned hangar bay doors.
• The next step was stated to be getting rework scheduled.
