StarCitizen:Align & Mine is a [[StarCitizen::Category:Sandbox activities|sandbox activity]] introduced in Star Citizen Alpha 4.1.0.

It comprises the reactivation and use of [[StarCitizen::Category:Orbital laser platforms|orbital laser platforms]] (OLP's) left behind by the dissolved StarCitizen:Hathor Group in order to expose highly valuable StarCitizen:harvestable minerals.

Phase 1: PAF Alignment

Each OLP is terrestrially flanked by three StarCitizen:planetary alignment facilities (PAF), each with a large communications dish. The dishes must be aligned to the OLP in order to prime its laser for activation. To align the dishes, three Alignment Blades must be gathered from the security rooms within the communication dish building and inserted into the alignment console also within the building. The doors to the security rooms can only be opened with StarCitizen:PAF Security Keycards which can be printed from the red keycard printers found at various locations on the PAF sites.

The dish alignment process is started by inserting the first alignment blade into the alignment console. Once a blade is inserted, the dish begins its movement which must be fully completed before another blade can be inserted. The movement of the dish causes Juvenile Valakkar to emerge from the ground and attack nearby humanoids. Each movement of the dish causes additional valakkar to emerge.

Dish alignment status, as well as the alignment state of other nearby PAF's, can be observed from the indicators on the alignment console.

Once the final blade is inserted, the battery garage in front of the dish building opens. A StarCitizen:GP-XP Industrial Battery from inside the garage can be retrieved for transport to the OLP.

Phase 2: OLP Priming and Firing

Before an OLP laser can be activated, it must be powered and primed. Powering the OLP laser requires three GP-XP Industrial Batteries to be inserted into receptacles near the OLP landing pads. Once all receptacles have been filled, the priming button inside the main OLP building becomes active. Once the priming button is pressed, the OLP laser is primed and ready to activate. A keycard printer next to the priming button prints a StarCitizen:Laser Activation Keycard which is required to activate the laser. PAF alignment and OLP battery status can be observed from indicators near the priming button.

To fire the OLP laser, the Laser Activation Keycard must be inserted into the keycard slot in the activation bunker located a distance away from the lasing site. Within the bunker is the activation keycard slot, indicators for OLP laser readiness, and the laser activation button. Inserting the activation keycard uncovers the activation button. Pressing the button fires the laser and opens the resource cave.

Phase 3: Mining

Once the OLP laser stops firing, the resource cave becomes safe to approach. Inside the cave are found several Juvenile Valakkar and resource nodes for:

The cave remains open for 2 hours after which it collapses and is sealed, killing any players and destroying any ships and vehicles inside.
