The A4A Hurricane is a heavy fighter developed by StarCitizen:Anvil Aerospace. The spacecraft offsets its absence of luxuries with formidable weaponry, featuring six ballistic guns that can penetrate almost any obstacle. Despite its compact design, it delivers a significant strike, and its pilots have not encountered a defensive StarCitizen:shield they are unable to breach.<ref name="HurricaneStore">Template:Cite RSI</ref>

Origins=The Hurricane was originally developed in StarCitizen:2607, during the StarCitizen:Second Tevarin War, by StarCitizen:Casse Aerospace. It was specifically designed to destroy StarCitizen:Tevarin ships as quickly as possible the moment their StarCitizen:phalanx shields failed. The Casse Hurricane suffered some setbacks during the testing phase. Though pilots liked the power-to-weight ratio and the extra punch its quad-turret offered, the high degree of coordination needed between the pilot and gunner had a very steep learning curve. Because of this, the Hurricane didn't enter active combat until StarCitizen:2609. While they were used to devastating effect in a few instrumental actions, the war ended shortly after their deployment in StarCitizen:2610. Although it was effective during the war, it soon fell out of favor and was quickly decommissioned after StarCitizen:2615.<ref>Template:Cite RSI</ref><ref name="jumppoint2" />

Redevelopment=During the second major StarCitizen:Vanduulincursion in StarCitizen:2871, a UEE report showed that the longer a human pilot was engaged in combat with the Vanduul, the less likely they were to survive. In response, the StarCitizen:UEE Navy requested new concepts for an alpha strike fighter that had enough "focused firepower" to quickly destroy Vanduul fighters. StarCitizen:Anvil Aerospace redeveloped the aging Hurricane design in order to quickly produce a fighter that the Navy needed. The updated design still bore all the hallmarks of Casse's original, but with the addition of Anvil's proven conflict expertise. The result was a game changer for the war effort, and in 2878 new wings of Hurricane were being deployed by the Navy on the front-lines.<ref name="jumppoint2">StarCitizen:Will Weissbaum, StarCitizen:David Ladyman and StarCitizen:Ben Lesnick, Portfolio: Casse Aerospace, Jump Point, vol. 5, no. 3, pp. 30-33, 2017-03-18.</ref> During the StarCitizen:The Fall of Caliban, the Hurricane proved to be very effective in clearing out Vanduul fighter wings, allowing many civilian convoys to evacuate safely from the StarCitizen:Caliban system. Its success against the Vanduul has made it a key component of both the UEE Navy and Marine fleets.<ref>Template:Cite RSI</ref>

Pirate Usage=Although the Hurricane was only produced for the UEE Military until 2947, several pirate groups have stolen them since their Anvil redesign. Most prominently, the StarCitizen:Argul Dawn and the StarCitizen:Otoni Syndicate have used them very effectively to ambush and disabled cargo convoys. The Argul Dawn was so efficient with their Hurricane wings that the StarCitizen:Advocacy launched several high-risk raids against the Argul Dawns headquarters at StarCitizen:Echo Eleven.<ref>Template:Cite RSI</ref>

Civilian Release=Even though it is one of the oldest ship designs still flying, Anvil brought it to the civilian market in 2947.

Development
| 2014-11-12 | Originally the Hurricane was an option in the poll for the third starter ship<ref>Template:Cite RSI</ref> but it lost to the StarCitizen:Reliant. The concept was subsequently changed to a heavier fighter that offers dogfighting-focused pilots a ship that relies strongly on firepower at the expense of armor. |
| 2017-02-25 | It was officially revealed in 2017-02-25 in the Template:Link RSI. |
| 2017-03-02 | The Hurricane's concept is designed by StarCitizen:Justin Wentz (Conceptist), and StarCitizen:Paul Jones (Art Director).<ref>Template:Cite RSI</ref><ref name="jumppoint">StarCitizen:Justin Wentz, StarCitizen:David Ladyman and StarCitizen:Ben Lesnick, Work in Progress: A4A Hurricane, Jump Point, vol. 5, no. 3, pp. 3-29, 2017-03-18.</ref> |
| 2018-06-30 | The ship became Flight Ready with the release of StarCitizen:Star Citizen Alpha 3.2.0.<ref>Template:Cite RSI</ref> |

Manned Turret comes with quad link S3 ballistic repeaters. Fixed Gun are pilot weapons, comes with S3 ballistic cannon. Missiles are on two racks. | |
| Shield | 2 x Small | Front-Back shield emitter. The Hurricane comes with a pretty weak complement of shield options. | |
| Armour | Small | Probably the nicest thing you can say about the Hurricane armor is that it does, in fact, exist. | |

| Glass Cannon | Point the business end where you want more broken things. More durable than you'd expect for a glass cannon — it can take a hit, but it's not quite nimble enough to do anything about it, so bring a friend or find yourself easily cornered. |
