Template:For Template:Planned Template:Infobox biome The ice caves are Minecraft:cave biomes composed of Minecraft:packed ice, Minecraft:snow, and Minecraft:calcite. Minecraft:Strays and Minecraft:frozen zombies spawn here, and they are the only place where Minecraft:icicles and Minecraft:ice crystals naturally generate.

Generation

Ice caves appear to generate as Minecraft:cave biomes below snowy biomes such as Minecraft:snowy plains and Minecraft:snowy taigas. They have been seen bordering Minecraft:lush caves.

Description

The walls of ice caves consist of Minecraft:packed ice with some Minecraft:calcite blobs. The floor is covered with patches of Minecraft:snow and Minecraft:ice crystals, and Minecraft:icicles hang on the ceiling.

Blobs of stone and deepslate generate throughout the packed ice. This allows Minecraft:ores and other stone variants like Minecraft:diorite and Minecraft:andesite to generate.

Minecraft:Water exposed to the sky freezes to Minecraft:ice, but in underground caves, the water from Minecraft:aquifers remains fluid. The light from Minecraft:lava lakes and ice crystals can sometimes cause icicles to fall down and damage mobs.

There appears to be a somewhat dense Minecraft:volumetric fog with Minecraft:Vibrant Visuals similar to Minecraft:sulfur caves.

Mobs

Minecraft:Frozen zombies and Minecraft:strays spawn in ice caves. Common cave monsters (Minecraft:zombies, Minecraft:spiders, Minecraft:zombie villagers, Minecraft:skeletons, Minecraft:creepers, Minecraft:slimes, Minecraft:endermen, and Minecraft:witches) are also able to spawn in ice caves, Minecraft:bats fly around dark spots and Minecraft:drowned and Minecraft:glow squid can spawn in aquifers.
