{{Journal entry|It is perhaps not surprising that wizard’s made use of magical jewellery as early as possible. Indeed the first few pieces worn on [[Dragonwilds:Ashenfall]] were little more than decoration, and gaudy wizards would attempt to outdo one another with shinier and shinier pieces.

As part of their ever increasing “prank war” wizards began to create jewellery that was enchanted with effects designed to frustrate, or otherwise hinder, the wearer, believing that enchantments in jewellery were little more than silly trinkets. One mage created what she assumed was an auditory illusion, within an amulet, the intention being that when the wearer would try and cast a spell, the jewellery would play an annoying earworm tune, distracting the poor caster.

This did not happen. Something about the threads of magic, the structure of the crystal and the concealing spell that was intended to hide the prank, created something unique. Instead of making it harder to cast spell, the wearers found it easier. Understanding came faster, spells and incantations clearer than before.

What was intended to distract instead focused the wearer, allowing them to concentrate in ways they had never been able to before.
