Poor hygiene can lead to disease, lowered health, and snarky comments.<ref name=":0" />

Hygiene decays faster if the characters becomes dirty or wears dirty clothing or [[StarCitizen::Category:Personal armor|armor]].<ref name=":0" />

Visual effects are displayed on the character's skin, such as sweat, congealed sweat, blood, dried blood, dirt.<ref name=":0" />

Certain usables, such as a shower, will reset a character's hygiene level and clean away the dirt effects.<ref name=":0" />
