The Intel Optane SSD 900P was a Solid State Drive using a combination of 3D XPoint™ memory media with Intel’s advanced system memory controller, interface hardware, and software. It was launched on October 2017 during StarCitizen:CitizenCon.<ref name=":0" />
Intel partnered with Cloud Imperium Games to promote the intel Optane SSD 900P, with CIG providing a StarCitizen:Sabre Raven to all buyers of the drive for a limited time.<ref>Template:Cite RSI</ref><ref>Star Citizen: Meet the Sabre Raven, Star Citizen, Youtube, 27 oct. 2017</ref>
StarCitizen:CitizenCon 2017 was sponsored by Intel, and during the event StarCitizen:Chris Roberts gave away one Intel Optane drive to an audience member, with 150 more drives being distributed among attendants who had a golden ticket in their goodie bag.<ref name=":0">Star Citizen: CitizenCon 2947 -- Chris Roberts' Opening Address, Star Citizen, Youtube, 27 oct. 2017</ref>
Intel Optane drives were also donated by Intel to CIG, which CIG said helped compile a lot faster.<ref name=":0" />
