StarCitizen:Stor*All

Stor*All is a StarCitizen:human shipping container manufacturer based on StarCitizen:Lo in the StarCitizen:Corel system. Originally incorporated as TransGo in StarCitizen:2745, it rebranded as Stor*All during a period of increased trade between the StarCitizen:United Empire of Earth (UEE) and the StarCitizen:Banu. Its vacuum-proof containers, including the well-known StarCitizen:Big Box series found on many ships, are built to transport a wide range of materials aboard different spacecraft designs.<ref name="galactapedia">Template:Cite RSI</ref>

History

Stor*All's commercial broadcasts feature a cartoon animal of indeterminate origin, with popular theories ranging from a Terran badger to a deep asteroid fur crab, explaining to a transport captain that Stor*All StarCitizen:Big Box series cargo containers can meet his every need. The captain offers example after example of an item that supposedly cannot be transported in deep space, each followed by the cartoon's refrain, "No worries, it'll STORE ALL!"<ref name="portfolio">Template:Cite RSI</ref>

The products of the Stor*All corporation have become a routine part of everyday life in the modern Empire. Most UEE StarCitizen:Citizens come into contact with the product regularly, and a large share of goods shipped between two atmospheres travels in a Stor*All container, by some estimates nearly half of all such items, a substantial market share given the simplicity of the product's design.<ref name="portfolio" />

Stor*All was incorporated in StarCitizen:2745 on StarCitizen:Lo as a Corel Limited Liability Corporation. The company was originally known as TransGo and underwent nearly a dozen marketing-oriented name changes, including "STUFF-IT" and "Shiploads", before finding success with the utilitarian image of the Stor*All brand. Investors settled on Lo as the headquarters in order to take advantage of the then-growing trade between the UEE and the Banu Protectorate.<ref name="portfolio" />

The company has been notably litigious, both on offense and defense. Stor*All has filed hundreds of patents with the StarCitizen:UEE government, ranging from the deserved ("nano-molecular impact pad weaving mechanism") to the unreasonable ("cube-shaped cargo area for spaceflight purposes"), and is quick to defend them from any potential competitor. One look-and-feel lawsuit against Alliance-Conway Shipping Goods has dragged through the courts at a slow pace, showing no sign of resolution after eight years.<ref name="portfolio" />

Another ongoing legal issue is the company's protection of its name. Fearing that the term will become commonly applied to any space transport unit, Stor*All invests hundreds of thousands of credits each year in a parallel advertising campaign reminding consumers that what it sells are Stor*All brand containers and not "Stor*Alls". This also reinforces the idea that a Stor*All unit is of superior make to anything else on the market.<ref name="portfolio" />

More frequently, Stor*All's legal department appears in the news for targeting unrelated businesses with similar names. In recent years it has shuttered businesses ranging from Sammy's Sure Haul Diner on StarCitizen:MacArthur to Terra's ALL STORE clothing importer, the latter of which shipped goods using exclusively branded StarCitizen:Conway containers.<ref name="portfolio" />

Production and business model

Stor*All containers appear throughout hangars, dockyards, and factory floors in known space without a clear owner because every Stor*All container is a rental unit. Containers are rented for a small fee when goods are approved for off-world shipping, and this fee is nearly always folded into the price of the goods themselves. The economics of the process are largely invisible, as the trading system has evolved to the point where container rental is fully institutionalized.<ref name="portfolio" />

The standard Stor*All container is rated for 500 jumps, and the company applies strict quality control to that rating. Large quantities of expired containers are sold at low prices to less reputable shippers for permanent use. Sometimes called "ghosts", these can typically be identified by patches of newer paint covering the Stor*All logo. Stor*All accepts no liability for containers shipped in a "ghost", and most insurance companies refuse to compensate users who suffer a loss while using retired containers.<ref name="portfolio" />

Product line

The standard Stor*All Big Box cargo container is more than an empty crate for transporting goods. It is a container designed with extensive engineering, built with the goal of storing as wide a range of items as possible.<ref name="portfolio" />

Stor*All produces thousands of different container StarCitizen:SKUs, from half-meter rad-shielded valuables containers to twelve-meter climate-controlled shipping crates used on larger StarCitizen:MISC Hull ships. While there is a unit for nearly every shipping need, the containers most commonly used by private enterprise spacers are Stor*All StarCitizen:Mini Cargo Pods and Stor*All StarCitizen:Big Box Cargo models.<ref name="portfolio" />

Big Box, called Tough-Guy before 2935, is the standard expandable cargo series from Stor*All. Big Box units have a Titan-grade metal exterior, a ribbed body skeleton, and a cushioned, super-reinforced ablative rubber interior. The original StarCitizen:Big Box Model A is among the most familiar cargo containers within Human space, used for everything from the standard attach point on the StarCitizen:Aurora CL to makeshift enclosures on hostile planets after retirement. Variant Big Box units have been designed for individual spacecraft. With the rise in popularity of civilian Hornet models, for example, Stor*All designed the StarCitizen:Big Box Model H using the same protective technology but with a form factor that slots into a Hornet's turret system.<ref name="portfolio" />

One step down from the Big Box, the StarCitizen:Mini Cargo Pod is a five-rating shipping container usable by small craft, including the standard model Roberts Aurora. Capable of shipping a modest quantity of bulk goods on long-distance runs, Mini Cargo Pods are common. Because they are frequently mounted externally, they carry a layer of radioactive shielding not present on internal models and can be equipped with additional hardware such as scan dampeners.
