Although the name may be sinister, the robes and the people who wear them are not automatically evil.
Brynmoor had a string of so-called “dark wizards.” Most were little more than bandits with a penchant for magic. The guards were enough to deal with most troublemakers, but a small group of them caused real trouble. They were members of the “Children of Shadows”, a Zamorakian cult that began to spread through the population. The cult fed on distrust, paranoia and greed, some very human traits. Among this number were three apprentices of the wizard’s guild, who were frustrated that they were not given the promotions they felt they deserved.
In their quest for power, the ‘Children of Shadows’ stumbled upon ancient vaults, repositories of the dragonkin’s long-forgotten secrets. Here, they discovered the remnants of a forbidden text, a relic of immense power. Driven by their arrogance, they chose to follow its instructions, unaware of the horrors they were about to unleash.
