If you already have excellent penmanship, I can teach you the basics of assembling a textbook. This includes how to bind and cover it. Of course, your first few textbooks won't be great, but if you keep at it, you'll eventually be able to make viable textbooks. And I will be happy to buy those textbooks from you! | If you already have excellent penmanship, I can teach you the basics of assembling a textbook. This includes how to bind and cover it. Our sages are working on that problem, of course, but in the meantime there is no way to write Rakshasan! "Textbooks are precious. Especially martial textbooks. Everyone needs to know how to defend themselves.
- What is this shop for?
I sell textbooks for all sorts of martial arts. My visiting friend Wintria sells textbooks for some less-practical topics. If you've never studied combat by reading a book before, please allow me to give you a free lesson! Afterwards, you are free to use my study nook for your research!
- Can you teach me to write books?
If you already have excellent penmanship, I can teach you the basics of assembling a textbook. This includes how to bind and cover it. Of course, your first few textbooks won't be great, but if you keep at it, you'll eventually be able to make viable textbooks. And I will be happy to buy those textbooks from you!
"Many of the Rakshasa living in Rahu learned to speak basic Rakshasan from our parents or grandparents, but none of us can read the texts left behind by our ancestors. The written language uses colors to indicate important parts of speech, and those of us born on this world don't seem to be able to see the same colors as our ancestors.
Our sages are working on that problem, of course, but in the meantime there is no way to write Rakshasan! I've been trying to convince people to write Rakshasan phonetically using the Human alphabet, the way Goblinese is often written. it may be the only hope of saving my ancestral language.
Oh, but don't worry, all of my books are written in Human for convenience!
"Wintria prefers the term "bookseller" over "booklord," but of course she's a Human, and that's just how they are: commerce-oriented.
Whereas I wish to be seen as an expert at books --a booklord -- because Rakshasa value merchants who are experts. It's a pity that Wintria is not a Rakshasa, because she is worthy of the title of booklord. I don't believe the Humans in her homeland recognize her writing expertise.
"On our homeworld of Ravana, my people write books in the Rakshasan language, and most books aren't bound and printed at all, they're entirely magic! Of course, I've only heard stories of Ravana from my father, but I long to see it some day.
