Stony peaks are warmer Minecraft:mountain peak biomes completely made out of Minecraft:stone and Minecraft:calcite strips.
Description
Stony peaks are a warmer variation of both the Minecraft:jagged peaks and the Minecraft:frozen peaks biomes that generates when a mountain peak is in the lukewarm biome temperature range. It generates in Minecraft:savannas, some Minecraft:forests, some Minecraft:plains, and Minecraft:jungles, and it doesn't generate Minecraft:snowy slopes, Minecraft:groves, Minecraft:meadows or Minecraft:cherry groves in the slopes of the Minecraft:mountain, instead, Minecraft:savanna plateaus, Minecraft:forests, and Minecraft:jungles often generate around it. It is mainly covered by stone with large Minecraft:strips of Minecraft:calcite and exposed ores, making it the only biome where calcite generates above ground.
With Minecraft:Vibrant Visuals, stony peaks use warmish atmospherics, lighting, and color grading similar to Minecraft:jungles, although they use default volumetric Minecraft:fog. This makes the night sky appear slightly less dark, and moonlight is much brighter blue.
Stony peaks are the third rarest Overworld biome and the rarest mountain biome, making up around 0.1% of the Overworld by area.

Snowy mountain biomes would generate directly next to hot biomes in early caves and cliffs development - this is why the stony peaks biome was added.
