The mind is a powerful thing. Thought can shape reality; intention turns to impulse, which moves muscle and bone, which in turn can shatter stone. The Aughra were fascinated by such power and sought more and more ways to harness it.

For Avisk, who was determined to force his will on all living beings, it was a myriad collection of tools in one, squishy, vessel. Dreams and nightmares were an especially fascinating study. Dreams, like thoughts, can shape reality. A child dreams of the stars and goes in search of the tallest trees, the highest mountains, anything to help him get closer to those twinkling baubles.

The elderly dream of their youth and regret decisions made decades in the past. Entire lifespans can exist in moments. Avisk yearned to harness that power.

When he crafted the crucibles, he distilled nightmares down to their purest forms. Each one forged from archetypes shared across countless species. Yet what nightmare is stronger then when friends become foes, when trust turns to betrayal. When we look into the eyes of our loved ones, what if it’s hatred that shines back?

This key is the concept of betrayal crystallised down and used to unlock the Nightmare Crucible. The beasts inside offer no loyalty, for in a world forged by betrayal they know that trust is nothing but a pleasant fiction.
