Instant mining, or insta-mining, is a game mechanic in which 1 Minecraft:block can be broken per Minecraft:game tick without the delay of Template:Frac of a second (6 ticks). Blocks that break instantly without using tools do not decrease durability if a tool is used. Below are listed the tool Minecraft:tier and the Minecraft:Efficiency and Minecraft:Haste levels necessary to instant-mine a block.
Without commands

With the help of commands
Using Minecraft:commands, much higher levels of efficiency and haste may be applied to enable instant-breaking of the following blocks.
Java Edition
Bedrock Edition
Blocks unaffected by Efficiency
These blocks don't have an assigned tool. However, with commands, they can be instantly broken with the right level of haste. Note that the maximum level of haste is 255.
| Level of Haste | Blocks instantly mined | Calculation |
|---|---|---|
| unbreakable |
|
All of these blocks have a hardness of -1, and -1×30 = -30. Since breaking starts at 1, these blocks can never be broken. |

| Minecraft:Haste X | 3 = 1×(1 + 2) which is equal to 3 = 0.1×30 | |
| Minecraft:Haste XXV (25) | 6 = 1×(1 + 5) which is equal to 6 = 0.2×30 | |
| Minecraft:Haste XXXIII (33) | 7.6 = 1×(1 + 6.6) which is greater than 7.5 = 0.25×30 | |
