Necromancy Overview

Necromancy is a combat skill that focuses on creating undead and wielding dark magic. To use necromancy you must have an item with a "Necromancy Gem" equipped and you also cannot have a "Holy Symbol" Equipped.

All skeleton-summon abilities require Necromancy Dust (Level 2 recipe). There are certain "designated" graveyards (examples are the main entrance of Serbule Crypt, Eltibule Crypt), but otherwise a "graveyard" is any area with at least 3 player tombstones in close proximity (to be verified since the update modify summoning aspect of Necromancy. Once summoned, skeleton minions will be resummoned when you move to a different zone.

In-Game Description

Necromancy is control over the undead, along with other powers that trifle with mortality. To use necromantic abilities, you must be wielding or wearing a necromancy gem. You can often find these on weapons, and less often on pieces of armor. (If you are in a beast form, necromancy gems in weapons won't work, but ones in armor will.)

Necromancy is a very diverse skill. It has mods that support many skill combos. Necro pets can help cover the issues that specialising in one damage type can cause as well. Here are some skills that combo well:

  • Battle Chemistry is an interesting choice. Both have indirect fire mods. You can also apply mutations to your pets. Giving a zombie thick skin can almost completely negate the passive bleed. Very diverse damage type access.
  • Fire Magic works quite well. Both skills have indirect fire mods. Deaths hold can be modded to apply a burn DOT as well. Your pets can lean into fire damage even more or can diversify your damage types
  • Mentalism makes a very effective electric DPS if you have Fairy Magic. Deaths Hold and Spark of death can both be modded to apply electric vulns. Also has psychic DOT mod Synergy as well
  • Spirit Fox. Dark Damage specialist. Both have access to Darkness vulns. Also has a litte indirect fire synergy.
  • Sword can make an effective slashing DPS. Deaths hold has a slashing vuln and Skeleton warriors can push more slashing damage.
  • Vampirism can be used to lean hard into Dark Damage. Both skills have access to darkness vulns. Very capable solo as well due to the CC and pets combo.
  • Warden can work in a similar fashion to mentalism. Both skills have access to electric vulns. Indirect fire is another theme that both skills share. Could work well with fire or Ratkin mages. Coordinated Assault mods work?
  • Weather Witching is a fantastic option. Hybrid Electric/Dark specialisation. Doomstorms count as undead minions and can benefit from all of the necro pet skills. Both can apply electric vulns. Best with Ratkin mages.
