Template:For Template:Infobox block Tall grass is the 2-block tall variant of short grass.
Obtaining
As an item, tall grass can only be obtained as chest loot.
Breaking
When broken normally, tall grass has a 12.5% chance of dropping 1 wheat seeds item. This is affected by the Fortune enchantment, dropping 1–3, 1–5, or 1–7 wheat seeds with Fortune I, II, and III respectively.
When broken using Minecraft:shears, tall grass drops two units of short grass instead.
Placing any block on tall grass breaks the grass and causes it to not drop anything. Template:Breaking row
Natural generation
Tall grass generates in plains, savannas, cherry groves, meadows, pale gardens, and lush caves. There is approximately 8.6 tall grass per chunk.
Generated loot
Post-generation
Bone meal can be used on short grass to turn it into tall grass. Using bone meal on a moss block or pale moss block, or a grass block Template:In and Template:InUpcoming, also has a chance of generating tall grass.
Usage
Most 2-block tall plants, including tall grass, have a disproportionately large hitbox compared to other plants.<ref>Template:Bug</ref> The only exception to this rule is tall seagrass.<ref>Template:Bug</ref>
Composting
Placing tall grass into a Minecraft:composter has a 50% chance of raising the compost level by 1.
Color
The coloration of tall grass is dependent on the Minecraft:biome they are in. A block always uses the color set to its location, regardless of how it was placed or of its source. This affects the side and top of the block.
Item
Template:IN, tall grass items use biome color with temperature 0.5, downfall 1.0, and as a result is colored Template:Color. Template:IN, this color is coded in the item's texture.
Biome colors
These values are generated by the biome dyeing algorithm. See biome colors for more information.
