The '''Hull D''' is a capital sized variant of the Hull series of cargo ships, developed by [[StarCitizen:Musashi Industrial and Starflight Concern]]. It represents the upper segment of vessel sizes, featuring an extensive ship constructed around a robust framework. It is priced reasonably, making it accessible for mid-sized organizations and enterprises. Frequently, Hull D vessels serve as flagships for commercial activities; however, their substantial size necessitates the deployment of escort fighters when operating outside secure areas.<ref name="HullDStore">{{Cite RSI|url=https://robertsspaceindustries.com/pledge/ships/hull/Hull-D|text=MISC Hull-D Store}}</ref><ref name="HullSeriesLaunch">{{Cite RSI|url=https://robertsspaceindustries.com/comm-link/transmission/14661-A-Hull-For-Every-Job-The-MISC-Hull-Series|text=A Hull For Every Job: The MISC Hull Series}}</ref><ref name="HullDQandA1">{{Cite RSI|url=https://robertsspaceindustries.com/comm-link/engineering/14687-Q-A-MISC-Hull-D|text=Q&A: MISC Hull D}}</ref> | The '''Hull D''' is a capital sized variant of the Hull series of cargo ships, developed by [[StarCitizen:Musashi Industrial and Starflight Concern]]. For most of the concern’s history, the majority of MISC’s business has come from the production output of its heavy industrial division. MISC-HI is chiefly responsible for the Hull series range of configurable bulk transport spacecraft that have become ubiquitous in UEE space. These sturdy, modular hulls are the basis for the majority of Human corporate shipping. Their unexpected popularity among the Xi'an has spawned an unlikely business relationship (and a string of imitators on the other side of the border).
When the line launched in 2802, four standard models ranged in size from the efficient Hull A to the gargantuan Hull D. The Hull series quickly revolutionized interstellar freight, leading to the standardization of dockyards and cargo processes around the UEE. This led to long-ranging knock-on effects, including over a dozen outside companies being founded or significantly shifting focus to support the Hull design, such as Argo Astronautics launching its MPUV line of short-range cargo ferries. In 2820, MISC developed a fifth ‘super-freighter’, the Hull E, which has since become the de facto interplanetary bulk goods transporter, with docks around the galaxy moving cargo containers back and forth from the huge ships around the clock<ref name="jp1004MF">"Manufacturer feature: MISC". Starlift Command=
The UEE military employs modified versions of the Hull D within their logistics network, equipping and refueling troops stationed at the front lines. The StarCitizen:UEE Military Starlift Command call-sign is for the Hull D is R4M Quasar.<ref name="HullDQandA1"/> |-|
Testimonial=
“I started my career as hull gunner on an R4M Quasar [the military conversion of the MISC Hull D] and went on to command a lifter crew for nine years while supporting border actions and anti-piracy patrols. Got into more scrapes than I can count, shot up a dozen raiders and never lost a pallet. The fighter and bomber pilots I went to officer training with may get in the history books, but they wouldn’t be effective without the supply chain we provided. Not that there was a competition: I’ll tell you this, those boys on the front lines always make it easy… our fighter screen would raise hell to make sure the weekly mail drop came through.”
- Colonel Yurg Cathonshew, UEE Military Starlift Command |-|
Description=
Model D of the MISC cargo Hull series is the powerhouse of freighter ingenuity. This fourth iteration features a wide range of cargo configurations, making it the ideal ship for hauling large cargo to your destination. With massive engines and hearty defences, the Hull D will get you to your delivery point on time and intact.

| 2015-04-25 | The Hull-D was initially introduced as a conceptual ship alongside the Hull-A, Hull-B, and Hull-E.<ref name="HullSeriesLaunch"/> |
| 2015-05-11 | The Hull series of ships including the D variant was originally concepted by StarCitizen:Jim Martin.<ref>Jim Martin Tumblr</ref> |
| 2025-11-27 | During the episode of Star Citizen Live: Lots of Ship Talk, it was revealed that the cargo capacity of the larger hull series of ships has been re-evaluated to reflect a more realistic gameplay experience, as the initial figures suggested that loading and unloading these ships would be excessively time-consuming. Consequently, the capacity of the Hull-D was adjusted from 20,736 to a more manageable 6,912 SCU.<ref name="SCLLots ofShipTalk">Star Citizen Live: Lots of Ship Talk (YouTube)</ref> |
Trivia
- Before the 2025 redesign, the Hull D had a nominal load of 648 StarCitizen:32-SCU containers, which gave it a similar carrying capacity to modern Feeder cargo container ship. A 32-SCU containers is roughly equivalent to a 40-foot container (FEU)<ref name="Container size">LIS: Logistics & Transport Lexicon - ISO-Container</ref> and Feeder container-ships carry between 500 and 1,400 FEU. Even with the downsizing, at 216 containers the Hull D still has the same capacity as a small feeder container ship.<ref name="Ship size">MAN Diesel (2009).
