Template:For Template:Split Template:Infobox block A log or stem is a naturally occurring Minecraft:block found in trees or huge fungi, primarily used as a building block and to create Minecraft:planks, a versatile Minecraft:crafting ingredient. There are nine types of logs: oak, spruce, birch, jungle, acacia, dark oak, mangrove, cherry blossom, and pale oak; and two types of stems: crimson, and warped.

Obtaining

Breaking

Logs and stems can be broken by hand, but using an Minecraft:axe is faster. Logs and stems drop themselves when broken with any tool. Template:Breaking row

Natural generation

All types of logs generate naturally as part of trees, although fallen trees can only contain oak, spruce, birch, or jungle. Additionally, one jungle log generates for each jungle bush. Stems generate naturally as part of huge fungi.

Smelting ingredient

Template:Smelting Stems cannot be smelted into charcoal.

Fuel

Logs, but not stems, can be used as a fuel in Minecraft:furnaces, smelting 1.5 items per block.

Axes

Template:Control an Minecraft:axe on a log or stem turns it into a stripped log or a stripped stem, which act the same as regular logs or stems.

Cocoa beans

Cocoa beans can be placed on the side of jungle logs to grow a new cocoa pod.

Note blocks

Logs and stems can be placed under note blocks to produce "bass" sounds.

Sulfur cube

Template:In development Sulfur cubes have the ability to absorb logs, either through picking them up or being interacted whilst holding them. This provides the rubber ball/bouncy effect to the mob when hitting it.
