Template:Infobox block Sandstone is a solid Minecraft:block related to Minecraft:sand that comes in two color variants, the other being red sandstone. Regular sandstone is commonly found in deserts and beaches. Sandstone also has three decorative variants: chiseled sandstone, cut sandstone, and smooth sandstone.

Obtaining

Breaking

Sandstone can be mined with any Minecraft:pickaxe. If mined without a pickaxe, it drops nothing. Template:Breaking row

Natural generation

Regular sandstone generates in deserts and beaches compressed underneath several blocks of Minecraft:sand. It generates at noise cave entrances in desert and beach biomes.

Many structures that generate in deserts are made of sandstone. Desert wells are made of normal sandstone, and desert villages, desert pyramids, and warm ocean ruins are made greatly of sandstone. All the aforementioned structures use sandstone Minecraft:blocks, Minecraft:slabs, Minecraft:stairs, and Minecraft:walls.

Usage

Unlike Minecraft:sand, sandstone is never affected by gravity.

Note blocks

Sandstone can be placed under note blocks to produce "bass drum" sounds.

Sulfur cube

Template:Message box Template:Article other Sulfur cubes have the ability to absorb sandstone, either through picking it up or being interacted with it. This provides the regular/football effect to the mob when hitting it.
