Template:Hatnote Template:Infobox block Stone is a Minecraft:block found underground in the Minecraft:Overworld or on the surface of mountains.
Obtaining
Natural generation
Stone makes up the majority of the Minecraft:solid blocks generated in the Overworld above Y=0. From Y=8 downwards, stone gradually transitions into Minecraft:deepslate, until it is completely replaced by deepslate at and below Y=0.
When chunks generate, stone can be found under 1-5 layers of grass blocks, Minecraft:dirt, Minecraft:gravel, Minecraft:clay, coarse dirt, Minecraft:podzol, Minecraft:mycelium, Minecraft:sand, Minecraft:sandstone, red sand, red sandstone, or Minecraft:terracotta, depending on the Minecraft:biome.
When the world is generating new chunks, some stone is replaced with ore features of other blocks. They may also be revealed on the side of small hills.
Stone also generates in igloo basements, some Minecraft:Overworld ruined portals, and in trail ruins.
Stone also makes up most of the blocks on the void start platform, in Superflat worlds created with the Void preset.
Stone also generates inside trial chambers with Minecraft:cobwebs on top next to trial spawners. They also indicate that the spawner is a spider or cave spider spawner.

Post-generation
{{#vardefine:params|0 }}Template:Hatnote Stone can also be made by Minecraft:lava flowing on top of Minecraft:water blocks (both flowing and source). The water is replaced by stone.
Breaking
Stone can be mined using a Minecraft:pickaxe, in which case it drops Minecraft:cobblestone. When mined without a pickaxe, it drops nothing. If a stone is mined with a Minecraft:Silk Touch enchanted pickaxe, it drops itself.

Smelting
Stone can be smelted from cobblestone. Template:Smelting

Sulfur cube
Template:Message box Template:Article other Sulfur cubes have the ability to absorb stone, either through picking it up or being interacted with it. This provides the regular/football effect to the mob when hitting it.
