The Drake Ironclad is a large armored cargo ship that is designed to safely transport large quantities of valuable cargo. Armed with a wide range of turrets and boasting a thick armored hull, the Ironclad is perfect for dangerous cargo runs in uncertain space.<ref name="presentation">Template:Cite RSI</ref>

Lore

The Ironclad and Ironclad Assault were unveiled by Drake Interplanetary during StarCitizen:Drake DefenseCon 2954, an event run by Drake as a tagalong to the StarCitizen:Invictus Launch Week. The obvious aim was to eclipse the official convention.<ref name="presentation" />

2025-11-27	The Ironclad was originally concepted with a cargo capacity of 1,536 SCU but after the developers removed some ladders this removed the need for walkways which allowed them to increase the cargo capacity to 2,204 SCU<ref>Template:Cite RSI</ref>

Trivia

An ironclad was a steam-propelled warship protected by steel or iron armor constructed from 1859 to the early 1890s. The ironclad was developed as a result of the vulnerability of wooden warships to explosive and incendiary shells.<ref>Wikipedia: Ironclad Warship</ref>
The community has affectionately dubbed the Ironclad with playful nicknames like "Fatterpillar" and "Ironchad".
