It includes a skin pack, a resource pack and a world template with iconic locations from the ''Halo'' franchise.
The mash-up is included in the [[Minecraft:Xbox One Edition#Holiday/Favorites Pack|Holiday/Favorites Pack]] on ''Xbox One Edition''.
On October 28, 2015, the mash-up pack was updated to add 8 new skins based on ''{{W|Halo 5: Guardians}}''.<ref>{{Cite|url=http://news.xbox.com/2015/10/19/halo-5-guardians-lands-this-week-on-minecraft-for-xbox/|title=Halo 5: Guardians Lands This Week on Minecraft for Xbox|website=Xbox Wire|date=October 19, 2015}}</ref> Another update on December 10, 2021 added 8 new skins based on ''{{W|Halo Infinite}}''.<ref>{{Mcnet|the-minecraft-master-chief-mash-up-pack-back|The Minecraft Master Chief Mash-up Pack Is Back|December 10, 2021}}</ref>

For a later update of the mash-up game designer Christopher Smith was tasked with updating the mash-up pack to add gameplay elements to it, as prior there wasn't any. He would spend three months creating puzzle elements, enemy spawn locations, item pickup caches, and animated linear guidance for players.<ref name="YoutubeMrDigitalArt"/>

The skin pack originally released with 40 skins. To tie into the release of ''Halo 5: Guardians'', 8 additional skins of the 8 playable characters in the game's campaign were added in an update. On [[Minecraft:Legacy Console Edition]], the mash-up stopped getting updates afterwards.
Another 8 skins of ''Halo: Infinite'' characters were added to the mash-up on ''Bedrock Edition'' to tie into the game's release.
