It is the direct sequel to Minecraft:Minecraft Dungeons, and was released on September 29, 2026 for Template:W, Template:W, Template:W, Template:W, and Template:W.

Minecraft Dungeons II: The Rift is a novel based on Minecraft Dungeons II. It is authored by Minecraft:Caleb Zane Huett, who had previously authored the Template:Woodsword Chronicle series, and was released by Random House Worlds on September 1, 2026.<ref>Template:Citation</ref>

It began on March 21, 2026 alongside the release of the Minecraft Dungeons II – Announce Trailer during Minecraft:Minecraft LIVE – March 2026, and ended on September 18, 2026 alongside a video titled "The Conclusion"

Trivia

• There is a "(very) tiny Halo reference" that Minecraft:Marc Watson put in text that's "not on something players would normally have access to."<ref>Template:Bsky</ref> He also snuck "in some very, very minor references to other Minecraft games, including Legends. • Minecraft:Mojang had an internal launch party on September 23, 2026, where they played the 12 minute demos from Minecraft:gamescom 2026. The winners were "4 designers with 7:54 remaining."<ref>Template:Bsky</ref>
• Starting on September 24th, 2026, the Minecraft:title screen Minecraft:panorama on Minecraft:Bedrock Edition was changed to an ancient city, promoting the release of the game.
