: {{interact|missing}} | : '''Narrator:''' This is Device High. The best-performing pieces of portable technology from across the country are enrolled here. They learn about new operating systems and meet other gadgets. I passed the benchmarking test with flying colours, but transferring to a cross-platform school isn't easy, especially for a Windows 10 PC. As my parents' beige cases disappear into the distance, I feel my internal fan speed up with nerves. Maybe someone here plays Minecraft: Pocket Edition or something? | ||
: '''Narrator:''' I have an hour to kill before class begins. Where should I head first? | |||

: '''Narrator:''' Windows 10 PCs aren't used to climbing stairs but I eventually arrive at the roof of Device High. In the distance a few iOS devices are relaxing in sleep mode but it seems I'm alone up here. A good place to collect my thoughts and prepare for the day ahead. I take a deep breath through my intake vent and contemplate my future. | |||
: '''Andy:''' Hey! Leave some for the rest of us! It's a hot day, y'know? | |||
: '''Narrator:''' I wasn't alone after all. The bespoke tones imply that I'm listening to an Android device. | |||
: '''Andy:''' First day, Windows guy? | |||
: {{interact|talk|Yeah. Sorry. I'll be on my way...}} | |||

: '''Andy:''' I guess you can stay... if you like. There are veteran devices who've never seen this place, so I'm a little bit impressed that you made it up here on your first day. | |||
: '''Narrator:''' It is an Android device! And a cheeky one, it seems. | |||
: {{interact|talk|Thanks. I like this place.}} | |||

---- | |||
: {{interact|branch|If the player chooses the aggressive Android dialogue|anchor=androidaggressive}} | |||
: '''Andy:''' Yes. So what? We all read webpages the same way, right? We get the same emails. Some of our batteries might last a little longer, and some touch interfaces are more sluggish, but deep-down we get the same results, yeah? | |||
: '''Winsten:''' I guess so. Sorry - I might have sounded a bit... mean. I'm not used to chatting like this. I thought you were about to make fun of me or something. | |||
: '''Andy:''' It's OK! I know the feeling. You don't need to worry about that here. Most devices are cool. The Minecraft thing helped bring us closer together. | |||
: '''Winsten:''' Minecraft? That's my most used app! I love that game. | |||
: '''Andy:''' Who doesn't? You know about the cross-platform update? | |||
: '''Winsten:''' No! What? Explain! | |||
: '''Andy:''' No time to explain! Just enable Local Server Multiplayer in the options menu! That's all there is to it! | |||
: {{interact|talk|Umm. OK. Done!}} | |||

: {{interact|branch|If the player chooses the mean Android dialogue|anchor=androidmean}} | |||
: '''Andy:''' Wow. Maybe one day you'll upgrade your OS and realise that all operating systems are built on the same framework. Good luck with the rest of school... Loser. | |||
: '''Narrator:''' As the Android device storms down the stairs the roof I feel a tinge of regret, but it soon escalates to a deep-rooted anger. Who cares about other devices? Cross-platform is a fad. I'll make it on my own in Device High. I'll rise to the top. I'll work and become the greatest device the world has ever known! | |||

: {{interact|branch|If the player chooses the calm rooftop dialogue|anchor=calmroof}} | |||
: '''Andy:''' Yeah. It's good to get some alone time. Hey... you're from a single-platform school, right? | |||
: '''Winsten:''' Yeah - Blue Sky College for Windows. My parents moved here to do Office work, and I had my the benchmarking test a few weeks ago. | |||
: '''Andy:''' Don't stress about it. Hang with the right machines and I'm learning to give a little bit, y'know. Taking things one day at a time. | |||
: '''Winsten:''' I'm not used to seeing different operating systems in one place. How does it even work? I mean how are you even compatible? | |||
: '''Andy:''' There are limits to what we can do together but you get used to it... and if things are getting to you, there's always the rooftop, right? | |||
: {{interact|talk|I hope I do fit in somewhere.}} | |||

---- | |||
: {{interact|branch|If the player chooses the Android tips dialogue|anchor=androidtips}} | |||
: '''Andy:''' Stand up for your operating platform, but don't look down on others, y'know? If somone is on 10% power, give them as much space as they need. Devices can get real grouchy when they're down to single digits. Oh, and always bring a USB battery pack and all the charging cables - that's super important. | |||
: '''Winsten:''' Thanks! Hey - thanks. Appreciate it. | |||
: '''Andy:''' Yeah, there's a real sense of community here at Device High. There's nothing wrong with being individual, but that doesn't man we can't work together. It's a pity that we're limited by certain apps but, y'know. We learn to live with it. | |||

: '''Andy:''' Just because you're a Windows 10 doesn't mean devices can't connect with you on some level... You have Minecraft installed, right? | |||
: '''Winsten:''' Of course I do. What kind of device doesn't allocate some of its memory to Minecraft? Why do you ask? What's that got to do with anything? | |||
: '''Andy:''' You're a Windows 10 device... right? Running the Windows 10 Edition Beta? | |||
: '''Winsten:''' Yeah. What of it? | |||
: '''Andy:''' haha. I'm going to blow... your... circuits... Now you can play cross-platform between the Minecraft: Windows 10 Beta and all versions of Pocket Edition. | |||
: '''Winsten:''' You're joking, right? | |||

: '''Andy:''' Most applications don't work across platform... sadly. Still, that doesn't stop you sharing cool stuff you've created. Sharing is good. | |||
: '''Winsten:''' Yeah, I guess I'll get used to it. I can always show off screenshots of builds and stuff. | |||
: '''Andy:''' Builds? Wait... are you talking about Minecraft? Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition Beta, I guess? | |||
: '''Winsten:''' Of course... I'm not aware of any other games that let you build cool creations and go on adventures with friends. | |||
: '''Andy:''' ... Me neither. | |||
: '''Winsten:''' Yeah... I guess Minecraft must be the only one | |||
: '''Andy:''' Yeah... anyway. Your version of Minecraft is compatible with Pocket Edition. We... we could play cross-platform, I guess... if you want... | |||

: '''Narrator:''' In one corner of the art room sits a device in sleep mode generating endless fractals. It wakes up and approaches with confidence. | |||
: '''Toshie:''' Looking for inspiration, new guy? Windows 10 eh? An... interesting OS for sure. | |||
: '''Narrator:''' The device sounds self-assured but welcoming. I assume it's an Apple product. | |||
: '''Winsten:''' Yeah. I'm new to Device High. First day, actually. | |||
: '''Toshie:''' Welcome to the studio. This is where devices can follow their hearts and intuition. Somewhere... creative... somewhere... personal... from the heart. | |||
: '''Narrator:''' I don't quite understand what the device is getting at, but I nod along regardless. | |||
: '''Toshie:''' This is the first day of the rest of your life! It's your time to... shine. To... create! To... collaborate. It's art! | |||

: '''Winsten:''' Well, I don't know if I'd go that... | |||
: '''Toshie:''' Never say ''"don't."'' It's a bad word. Don't ever say d... well you get where I'm coming from. With the don't thing. There's a purity to positive thinking... A cleanliness... a minimal beauty. | |||

: '''Narrator:''' As the Apple device storms from the studio I contemplate my actions. Maybe its intentions were good? Doubtful but possible. Or maybe Device High is packed with sycophants? It's then I decide my future. Forget external hardware. I will become the greatest device ever manufactured! And I will do it alone. | |||

Template:Italic title Template:Infobox program Doki Doki Compatibility Quest III was a browser game created to promote the release of Minecraft:Pocket Edition v0.12.1 alpha, released on September 9, 2015.<ref>Template:Tweet</ref> Done as a parody of Template:W games such as Template:W, the game stars various anthropomorphic Template:W.<ref>Template:Citation</ref><ref>Template:Citation</ref> It can be played within a blog post for the update, and as such was indirectly removed when the Mojang website became a redirect to Minecraft:Minecraft.net.<ref>Template:Citation</ref><ref>Template:Citation</ref>
Gameplay
The game can be played entirely using a mouse, lacking any movement or mechanics beyond clicking text boxes. The only visible button during gameplay is a soundbar, enabling the player to mute the game if desired. If the player ever receives an ending, a restart button will become visible in the top-left corner. Despite lacking an icon, this functionality actually exists throughout the rest of the game, returning the player to the first screen of exposition if clicked.
Summary
Template:Expand section The game is set at Device High, a premium high school for "the best-performing pieces of portable technology from across the country." The protagonist, Winsten, is the new Template:W PC in class, having aced an entry exam, but is anxious attending a cross-platform school. They got dropped off by their parents, feeling their internal fan spinning with nervousness, pondering if anyone plays Pocket Edition. Having some spare time before class, they decide to go one of three directions: to the rooftop, the art studio, or registration.
If Winsten heads onto the roof, they will remark about their lack of experience climbing stairs, before noticing Template:W models relaxing. Finding the place a good spot to be alone, they take a deep breath, only to be interrupted by an Template:W device named Andy, who accuses Winsten of "hogging the air." If the player reasons with them, such as apologizing or recognizing they're an Android device, Andy will be revealed as cheeky and try to give advice.
If at any point Winsten chooses not to use cross-play or refuse to associate with a character, they will become obsolete, ending the game.
