Staff is an extremely potent defensive skill. It has access to a variety of armor/health regeneration, crowd control, taunt, rage reduction, and extreme damage reduction. Its secondary skill, Hoplology can restore a bit of armor every time you use a Staff ability.
In-Game Description
Mastery of the staff as a martial weapon. Staff fighting has a mix of both offensive and defensive abilities.
Training Staff
- Hogan in Hogan's Keep teaches Staff after completing his quest Hogan's Request.
- Roshun the Traitor will unlock levels 51-60, 61-70 and teach you 51+ Staff abilities as well as lower-level Staff abilities.
- The Wombat in Sun Vale also teaches some Staff abilities.
- Pegast unlocks 71-80.
- Levels 81-90 are unlocked by Emersil the Ever-Gloating deep beneath Povus.
- Sourgum in Statehelm unlocks 81-90, 91-100, and Prodigy Potential.

As you gain levels in Hoplology, your "Staff Armor Auto-Heal" amount will go up. This means that every time you use a Staff ability, you will regenerate that amount of armor. This caps out at Hoplology 90, at a bonus of 52 armor per attack.
