The Overhead Chop is an unlockable variant of the standard chop, requiring level 4 Dragonwilds:Woodcutting.
Its effectiveness depends on the state of the tree. While the tree is standing, the overhead chop deals 10% of the base damage of the axe players are using. However, once the tree has fallen, the overhead chop deals 33% more damage than a standard chop. The only exception to this is whilst woodcutting a tree stump, by which there is no damage difference between a chop or an overhead chop.
| Tree (using chop) | Tree (using overhead chop) | |
|---|---|---|
| Stone Axe | 15 | 2 |
| Bronze Axe | 20 | 2 |
| Iron Axe | 30 | 3 |
*Note: Stone Axe using overhead chop has damage value of 1.5 rounded up to 2.*
