Minecraft:Poplar

A poplar is a Minecraft:tree that generates in Minecraft:dappled forests. Poplars consist of light brown logs, as well as yellow, orange, or red poplar leaves. Both standing and fallen poplars may have Minecraft:shelf mushrooms growing on their sides.

Appearance

There are three variants of poplar trees for each leaf color: red, orange, and yellow. They have one trunk topped by an especially large canopy. Naturally generated poplars can have Minecraft:shelf mushrooms on the trunk.

Fallen poplars

Template:Main Poplar trees are sometimes replaced by fallen poplar trees which cannot be grown, more commonly than any other type of fallen tree.

Fallen poplars may consist of a single upright log, or a stump. Logs lying on their side are often found 1–2 blocks from the stump. They occasionally have mushrooms on top or shelf mushrooms on the side.

A fallen poplar has a log length of 4–7 blocks and the stump is 75% covered with vines.

Poplars generate naturally only in the Minecraft:dappled forest biome. They grow more densely in Template:BE than in Template:JE.

A poplar sapling requires an empty space above it to grow into a poplar tree.

The sapling grows after receiving random ticks. Poplar saplings require a light level of at least 9 in the sapling block to grow naturally, similar to other tree saplings. Applying bone meal to a poplar sapling causes it to attempt to grow immediately.

When a poplar sapling grows, it randomly selects one of three leaf color variants.

If the selected tree structure cannot fit in the available space, the growth attempt fails and the sapling remains unchanged.
