Minecraft:Apple

Apples are Minecraft:food items that can be eaten by the player or crafted into golden apples.

Obtaining

Block loot

Oak and dark oak Minecraft:leaves have 0.5% (Template:Frac) chance of dropping an apple when decayed or broken, but not if burned. Breaking leaves with a Minecraft:tool enchanted with the Fortune enchantment increases the chances of dropping an apple: 0.556% (Template:Frac) with Fortune I, 0.625% (Template:Frac) with Fortune II, and 0.833% (Template:Frac) with Fortune III.

Usage

To eat an apple, press and hold Template:Control while it is selected in the hotbar. Eating one restores Template:Hunger hunger and 2.4 saturation.

Apples can be used to heal, grow, and increase temper of Minecraft:horses, donkeys, and mules. Template:IN, due to a bug, skeleton horses (in their hostile state; being ridden by skeletons) can also be fed apples.<ref>Template:Bug</ref>

Composting

Placing an apple into a Minecraft:composter has a 65% (Template:Frac) chance of raising the compost level by 1.

History

Trivia

• Prior to the texture update in Java Edition 1.4.2, the sprite of the apple was the same one used in Notch's game Legend of the Chambered.
