Rooted dirt can be mined with any tool or without a tool. Template:Breaking row
Natural generation
Rooted dirt can generate under azalea trees. Below the first block directly underneath the trunk, rooted dirt randomly replaces blocks in a 5×5 cross-section centered on the tree until it reaches the lush caves biome.
Mob loot
An Minecraft:enderman holding rooted dirt drops the block upon death.
Template:IN, wandering traders have a chance of 8.5% (increased by 1% per level of Looting) to drop 2 rooted dirt when killed while showing the item as trade offer, if the player holds an Minecraft:emerald.
Trading
Wandering traders may sell 2 rooted dirt for 1 Minecraft:emerald. Template:Trade sources
Post-generation
Single rooted dirt replaces Minecraft:dirt, coarse dirt, Minecraft:mud, muddy mangrove roots, Minecraft:clay, or moss blocks below oak logs where azalea trees are grown from Minecraft:azalea or flowering azalea.
Usage
Much like coarse dirt, neither Minecraft:mycelium nor grass can spread onto rooted dirt.
While it yields itself when dug, it does not convert into dirt after a block is placed onto it.
Rooted dirt blocks can be converted into dirt path blocks by Template:Control any type of shovel on the side or top of rooted dirt with air above it.
Hanging roots
Template:Ctrl bone meal on rooted dirt causes hanging roots to grow below the block, if space is available for it to grow.
Using a Minecraft:hoe on rooted dirt turns it into normal Minecraft:dirt and drops a hanging roots item.
Mud
Template:Control a water bottle, splash water bottle or lingering water bottle converts the rooted dirt into Minecraft:mud.
Sulfur cube
Template:In development Sulfur cubes have the ability to absorb rooted dirt, either through picking it up or being interacted with it. This provides the regular/football effect to the mob when hitting it.
