The snowy mountains or ice mountains was a hills variant of the snowy plains that no longer generates since Minecraft:Caves & Cliffs: Part II, and was removed in Java Edition.Template:Infobox biome
Description
These hills were no taller than most other hill biomes in the game, despite the name 'mountains'. As a hills variant, the biome was almost similar to the snowy plains. However, rivers generated inside this biome were not replaced by frozen rivers. No structures generated in this biome, though polar bears, rabbits and strays spawned. Caves frequently generated on the sides of the mountains. Template:IN, no hostile mobs other than strays, skeletons and slimes spawned here.
With Minecraft:Vibrant Visuals, snowy mountains use default atmospherics with a strong cold color grading, making the biome appear icy blue. They have cold sunlight, which appears slightly brighter at dusk and dawn.
Mobs
Snowy mountains used the same mob spawning chances as snowy plains.
