22w16a is the sixth Minecraft:snapshot for Minecraft:Java Edition 1.19, released on April 20, 2022,<ref>Template:Snap</ref> which introduces new music, tweaks to the Minecraft:allay, more predictable randomized events, and fixes bugs.

• Added a new music disc fragment titled "5".
  • Can only be obtained from the Minecraft:chests in the Minecraft:ancient cities. They are extremely rare and hard to obtain.

Minecraft:Music disc

• File:Music Disc 5 JE1 BE1.png Added a new music disc by Minecraft:Samuel Åberg titled "Minecraft:5".
  • Can only be obtained through crafting by using 9 "Disc Fragment 5"s.

Non-mob entities

Minecraft:Painting

• Template:Animate Added unused painting Template:Cd from Template:BE.
  • These paintings are not placeable by default, but can be added through Minecraft:commands (such as Template:Cmd) or through a Minecraft:data pack.

• Added doWardenSpawning game rule, to control whether Minecraft:wardens can be spawned or not, defaults to true.

General

Minecraft:Debug screen

• Added a heap memory allocation metric.

Minecraft:Music

• Added new music, all by Minecraft:Lena Raine.<ref group=note>Released to all 1.19 snapshots.</ref>
  • "Minecraft:Ancestry" only plays in the Minecraft:deep dark.
  • "Minecraft:Aerie", "Minecraft:Firebugs", and "Minecraft:Labyrinthine" play in the Minecraft:lush caves, all types of Minecraft:swamps, Minecraft:forests, and Minecraft:jungles, as well as the Minecraft:title screen.

Minecraft:Tags

• Added the following block tag:
  • #frogs_spawnable_on: Template:Cd.
• Added the following painting variant tag (new type):
  • #placeable: Template:Cd.
    • These paintings are placeable in Survival mode.

Blocks

Minecraft:Froglights

• Now movable by Minecraft:pistons.

Items

Minecraft:Bucket of tadpole

• Now plays sounds when picking up or releasing Minecraft:tadpoles.

Mobs

Minecraft:Allay

• Raised health from Template:Hp to Template:Hp.
• Lowered the delay after item throw from 5 seconds to 3 seconds.
• Raised item search range from 9 to 32.
• Changed movement speeds:
  • Now slower when just wandering.
  • Now faster when collecting items, going to the player or going to a Minecraft:note block.
• Changed throwing arc to make them hit their target more consistently.
• Now drop the item they were holding when dying.
• Are now unable to despawn if they are holding an item they have been given.
• Now make a sound when they toss an item.

Minecraft:Frog

• Can now spawn on Minecraft:grass block, Minecraft:mud, Minecraft:moss carpet, Minecraft:mangrove roots and Minecraft:muddy mangrove roots.

Minecraft:Tadpole

• Now make a sound when they grow up into a frog.

World generation

Minecraft:Mangrove swamp

• Atmospheric water color has been changed to a pale green tint.

General

LWJGL

• Updated LWJGL library to 3.3.1.

Minecraft:Music

• The places where the following existing music can be played are changed:<ref group=note>Changed to all 1.19 snapshots.</ref>
  • "Stand Tall", "Wending", and "Infinite Amethyst" can no longer be played in the main menu.
  • "Left to Bloom" and "One More Day" can no longer be played in the main menu, and can be played in all types of forests, jungles, and Minecraft:old growth taigas.
  • "Floating Dream" and "Comforting Memories" can be played in all types of forests, jungles, and old-growth taigas.

Particles

• Removed the particle allay_dust.

Randomized events predictability

• Following randomized events are now more predictable, and no longer have a possibility of extreme behaviors:
  • Placement and velocity of things dropped from Minecraft:droppers or Minecraft:dispensers.
  • Placement and velocity of items spawned from containers upon destruction.
  • Randomized follow_range component attribute for mobs.
  • Velocity of Minecraft:horses spawned from skeleton traps.
  • Minecraft:Blaze random position and randomized speed of blaze projectiles.
  • Randomized portion of damage and velocity of Minecraft:arrows.
  • Randomized flight pattern of Minecraft:firework rockets.
  • Bobbing patterns and time until a fish for Minecraft:fishing rods.

Minecraft:Tags

• The #music_discs item tag now includes the new music_disc_5.
